mikaela lucido was born on a Wednesday.

In 2002, she immigrated from Manila, Philippines, to Mississauga, Canada with her family. Her words have been featured in Ricepaper Magazine, Living Hyphen, Layered Butter, Augur Magazine, Cambio & Co., Goalcast, Savant-Garde Literary Magazine, and S.M. Beiko’s Gothic Tales of Haunted Futures. She graduated with an Honours Bachelor’s degree in Creative Writing & Publishing at Sheridan College. She was the 2021 recipient of the Ampersand Award. Her debut novel, Danica Dela Torre, Certified Sleuth, was published by Annick Press in September 2024. She resides in Mississauga, on the Treaty and Traditional Territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, The Haudenosaunee Confederacy, and The Huron-Wendat and Wyandot Nations.
